Barbara D. Adams
January 5, 1929 -January 9, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of our mother, Barbara Dolores Adams on January 9, 2023. As a mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Barbara journeyed through life with grace, strength and courage. Born January 5, 1929 in Wilmington, CA, Barbara was a child of the Great Depression and a teenager by the end of World War II. By this time, she had developed her talent for the piano.
After high school, Barbara continued her studies at Biola University where she met and later married Billie A. Adams, a Navy WWII veteran. Together they built Trinity Bible Church in South Gate, CA after suffering the loss of their first-born son, Timothy. Barbara made the church sing with her piano and organ skills, playing classical to gospel hymns. After a divorce, Barbara picked herself up and finished an Associate Degree in 1971 when she was immediately hired by Tredway, Brandmeyer and Ward as a legal secretary and paralegal assisting. Music was still a big part of her life as she continued every Sunday to inspire the congregation at Christ Lutheran Church in Downey, CA. For over 30 years, Barbara worked seven days a week, was involved with the Downey Symphony Organization, raised four children, and still managed to bake the best apple pies in the world.
Barbara lived out her last days after retirement with the same grace and beauty that was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her vitality and faith will be carried on by her son, three daughters, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her gentle smile and demeanor will always be with us.
