Bellflower detectives seeking additional sexual assault victims

BELLFLOWER — Detectives from the Lakewood Sheriff's Station Monday sought additional potential victims of the man charged with sexually assaulting a girl in Bellflower.

Mario Luis Chavez, 42, is accused of approaching a girl in front of a convenience store on the 17600 block of Bellflower Boulevard, near Ramona Street, around 10 p.m. on Feb. 16, asking her where she was going, then forcing the girl into his vehicle and driving away, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Chavez allegedly proceeded to sexually assault the victim while in the car, described as a white 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, detectives said.

Chavez was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, Hispanic, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has an Aries symbol on his left forearm, an "M" on his right hand, "Long Live Them," and a face tattoo on his left bicep.
