Bob Brazelton, former mayor who played key role in Downey's incorporation, dies at 94
DOWNEY — Bob Brazelton, a former Downey mayor who played an integral role in the incorporation of Downey, has died, according to close friends. He was 94.
An attorney, Brazelton chaired the committee that drafted the original Downey city charter when Downey residents voted to incorporate in 1956. He went on to be elected Downey mayor in 1993.
Brazelton remained in Downey long after his retirement, volunteering with the Downey YMCA, Downey Los Amigos Kiwanis and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
