City Council makes board appointments
DOWNEY – The first Downey City Council meeting of the year saw new appointments to several of the city’s committees and commissions.
Mayor Pro Tem Blanca Pacheco made three appointments Tuesday, naming Henry Ceja to the Recreation and Community Services Commission, and Denny Chavez and Timothy Horn to the Public Works Committee for District 1.
Ceja is the husband to new councilmember Mario Trujillo.
In District 3, Councilwoman Catherine Alvarez made a number of appointments, including Ana De Silva to the Library Advisory Board, Sergio F. Ramirez Ancheyta to the Board of Building Appeals and the Recreation and Community Services Commission, Sean Berrios to the Urban Forest Management Plan Workgroup, Lester Reyes to the Green Task Force, Carlos Aranibar to the Public Works Committee, Phillip Lee Squire to the Public Works Committee and the Measure S Independent Citizens Oversight Board, and Art Montoya to the Planning Commission.
Councilman Trujillo appointed two individuals, naming Horacio Ortiz Jr. to the Planning Commission and Dorothy Pemberton to the Public Works Committee.
