Covid-19 deaths set new record in L.A. County
DOWNEY — L.A. County health officials announced 55 new deaths attributable to Covid-19, the largest increase in fatalities for the third consecutive day.
Meanwhile, the number of known coronavirus cases in Downey continued to climb, reaching 114 on Thursday.
Barbara Ferrer, L.A. County director of public health, called today’s statistics “distressing and a stark reminder of the devastation caused by Covid-19.”
On Thursday, Downey Mayor Blanca Pacheco released a video encouraging residents to continue practicing social distancing.
