Crime Report: 11/12/2020
■ On 10/26/2020 at approximately 8:05 pm, Budget Car Rentals tracked one of their vehicles, which had been reported stolen to Lakewood Sheriff’s Station, to a residence in the 13200 block of Deming Ave. Officers arrived on scene and found the vehicle parked and occupied. The named adult suspect was detained in the vehicle and subsequently arrested for vehicle theft.
■ Detectives are investigating a strong arm robbery that occurred on 10/28/2020 at about 11:40 pm, in the area of Firestone Blvd. / Stewart & Gray Rd. The adult female victim stated the suspect asked her if she wanted to buy a phone. When the victim told him no, the suspect threatened to assault the victim if she didn’t give him everything in her possession. The victim then gave the suspect $20.00. The suspect fled southbound on foot out of sight.
■ Due to multiple citizen complaints. on 10/30/2020 at approximately 6 am, officers in conjunction with Code Enforcement, Public Works and Ocean Blue responded to the Rio San Gabriel Flood control channel for a cleanup / enforcement operation. About 7 tons of garbage was removed and 7 transients were contacted, offered services, and left the location.
■ On 10/31/2020 at approximately 7:35 pm, Officers responded to Firestone Blvd. near the west city limits regarding a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle as it turned onto Regentview Ave from Stewart & Gray Rd. The vehicle yielded and the adult male driver was arrested and the vehicle was recovered.
■ Detectives are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon incident that occurred on 11/2/2020 around 4:45 pm, in the 12500 block of Brookshire Ave. The adult female victim stated she was attacked by an unknown male suspect as she went outside to retrieve her mail. The victim sustained one minor puncture wound from a knife to her leg. The victim was very uncooperative with officers and stated she did not desire prosecution. The victim was transported to the hospital by the Downey Fire Department for her injury.
■ Detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred on 11/3/2020 around 10 pm, in the 12500 block of Paramount Blvd. The suspect entered the Chevron located at 12555 Paramount Blvd and approached the counter. The suspect placed his right hand in his jacket pocket, simulating a firearm and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk gave the suspect $50 from the register and the suspect fled the location on foot.
■ Detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred on 11/6/2020 around 12:10 pm, in the 8200 block of 2nd St., parking structure. The victims were in the parking structure when they were approached by two males. The suspects were each armed with handguns and took the victim’s wallets and cell phones. Officers were not able to locate the suspects.
■ Detectives are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred on 11/7/2020 around 9:55 pm, in the 11700 block of Bellflower Blvd. The adult female victim and her daughter were walking southbound on Bellflower Blvd. The suspect was seated on the porch area and words were exchanged between them. The suspect grabbed a loose brick from the front planter and threw it at the victim as they continued walking southbound. The brick struck the victim on her leg and did not cause an injury. The suspect grabbed the brick and retreated to his residence. The victim stated she was not desirous of prosecution. The suspect would not exit his residence to speak with officers.
