Crime Report, July 18

Thursday, July 7:
At noon, an officer conducting a traffic stop at Downey & 2nd Street, observed a
loaded handgun in the vehicle’s glovebox when the driver opened it to retrieve
their vehicle’s registration. The suspect, a 25-year-old man from Pico Rivera, was
arrested without incident. The driver was booked for carrying a concealed
weapon.

Saturday, July 9:
At 2:30 p.m., Wilderness park employees reported the theft of (4) two-way radios
stolen from a storage shed. Detectives are investigating.

At 10:00 p.m., Downey officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of Firestone
Boulevard and Downey Avenue. Officers attempted to stop it, but the driver
refused to pull over and a short pursuit ensued. Downey officers cancelled the
pursuit when the driver began endangering the public with his driving. Ultimately
the stolen vehicle was recovered by the California Highway Patrol in the City of El
Monte. The vehicle was recovered, but the suspect(s) were able to evade
capture. Detectives are investigating.

Sunday, July 10:
At 2:30 p.m., Downey officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of Firestone and
Ryerson. They stopped the vehicle being driven by a 28-year-old man from Los
Angeles. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day in the City of Los
Angeles. The driver was arrested without incident.
