FBI seeks suspect in Bellflower killing
BELLFLOWER — Authorities sought public help Wednesday in finding a 34-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a man after an altercation at a 2019 party in Bellflower.
According to the FBI, Marco Antonio Garay is described as 6-feet tall, between 190 and 200 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, full sleeve tattoos on his arms, and the word "Matthew" on one of his forearms.
He also has a tattoo with unknown lettering on his chest that's visible when he wears a button-down shirt or v-neck, according to the FBI.
Garay is a resident of Los Angeles and goes by two aliases: Marco A. Garay and Marco Garay, officials said.
He is accused of fatally shooting 25-year-old Oscar Ruiz around 12:30 a.m. Jan. 20, 2019, after a verbal and physical altercation broke out among various attendees at a party in the 17100 block of Downey Avenue in Bellflower, according to the FBI and sheriff's department. He fled the scene on foot. He was subsequently charged with murder, but fled the scene, leading to the issuance of state and federal arrest warrants.
Ruiz was the father of two young sons. Sheriff's officials said at the time that Ruiz had not been attending the party, but went to pick up his girlfriend, who was involved in the altercation that erupted during the gathering.
