DOWNEY -- “Bills Shorts Two: Chart-Topping Comedies” is heading into its final week of performances at the Epic Lounge in downtown Downey. 

The 90-minute show features five short comedic performances. Sylvia Blush is the director. 
Performances are scheduled for Aug. 22-24 at 8 p.m. and include: 

“French Toast” by Bill Blush (10 minutes): Mop in hand and a song in his heart a free-spirited techie a challenges authority to think outside the box.   

“Run To You” by Megan Breen (10 minutes and directed by Julianna Stephanie Ojeda): An eccentric couple’s happy romance is put to the test when something vital to their bliss takes off to search for its own. 

“Linda” by Diana Burbano (10 minutes): A story of finding your inner hero.

“Song of the Armadillo” by Forrest Hartl (10 minutes): Adapted from a Bolivian folktale, Song Of the Armadillo follows the journey of Pichi, a small armadillo with big dreams.

“Damn You Kenny!” by Bill Blush (30 minutes): A leader desperately tries to hold on to his group’s ethics as a bi-weekly meeting slowly spirals out of control.

Below is a list of cast members: 

Chloe Tatiana Avila: In 2012 she was the rhythm composer for “Electricidad” directed by Sylvia Blusg. She’s a member of the Improv troupe G.I.P.S. & recent work include: Trickster at Knott’s Scary Farm, “Interludes” by Miguel de Cervantes & “Late Night Burnight”.

Juan Enrique Carrillo has worked with immigrants, organizing day laborers and domestic workers throughout Los Angeles and incorporating Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) techniques based on the work of Augusto Boal. He was awarded a Center Theatre Group Educators Fellowship and his first solo piece will be published in the anthology, Palabras del Cielo: A Critical Anthology of Latina/o TYA Plays and Playwrights.

Jessica Delgadillo debuted in Miguel de Cervantes’s “Interludes” at Cerritos College. She has performed with the G.I.P.S. Improv touring troupe and had the pleasure of writing and acting in various sketches in “Late Night Burnight”. 

Andrea Eparza recently graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills receiving her BA in Anthropology with a Minor in Theater performance. She was invited to showcase “Linda” by Diana Burbano at Viva La Muxer and the 10 Minute Play Festival Teatro Frida Kahlo Theater.

Alberie Rachele Hansen, a city of Downey native and California State University, Fullerton graduate, Alberie has trained extensively at Trinity St David University of Carmarthen Wales UK and Beverly Hills Playhouse - Los Angeles. She recently finished a short film ‘Hollywood Mouth 3’ with Jordan Mohr and is starting production on ‘Claude’ with Lime Train productions.

Forrest Hartl studied drama at UC Berkeley (B.A.) and playwriting at U.S.C. (M.F.A.). His plays tour with Kaiser Permanente’s Educational Theatre Programs and his short play, Mass Effect, is published by PlayGround-LA publications. His short film “A Boy and His Dad” won the award of merit at the 2015 Catalina Film Festival.

Taylor Hawthorne is a native of Los Angeles. She is a graduate of University of Southern California and continues her studies at the Richard Lawson Studios. Previous acting credits include an adaptation of “The Frogs” by Aristophanes, the world premiere of “Hit” by Alice Tuan, a successful run of julie taiwo oni “Oni’s Denim” at Son of Semeleele.

Frank Ledezma says he’s done a thing or two, here and there. But thankful and fortunate to be back on stage.

Melissa Legaspitudied theater at Cerritos College where she became a member of the touring improvisational group GIPS Credits include The 15th anniversary revival of “Shadows”, “The Interludes” by Miguel de Cervantes and under the direction of Sylvia Blush she played Ifigenia in “Electricidad” by Luis Alfaro.

Gilbert Ybarra-Martinez is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and iO WEST He has been in such productions as “Hamlet”, (read it, don’t say it!) “Macbeth”, “Last Days of Judas Iscariot” and two different Bill Blush original one acts.

Tahirih Moeller recently graduated from California State University, Long Beach as a Theater Major with an emphasis in Performance. She is the co-creator of an non-profit organization named Up.&.Coming Actors and her play “A Live Mixtape” recently showcased at the Kennedy Center ’s Hip Hop Theatre Creator Award.

David Ohlsen is a media junkie, a storyteller, and a guide. He is thrilled to be acting again after long hiatus, as he last appeared in “The Nature and Purpose of the Universe” by Christopher Durang. As a 13 year veteran Summer Camp Counselor for The YMCA David has delighted in performing comedic sketches and songs yearly with kids and young adults of all ages.

Julianna Stephanie Ojeda received her BA in Dramatic Arts from UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts with Honors in Acting. Recent acting credits include “Lydia”, “Fabulous Monsters”, “Blood Wedding” and “Yerma”.

Emmanuel Plascencia is from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. His acting credits include: “Romeo and Juliet”, “Last Days of Judas Iscariot” and The Door from “Joketown” an original Forrest Hartl production. He also coaches the youth in the arts of acting and Improv.

Rocky Sanchez is thrilled to be back at the The Epic Loungepic Lounge for Bill’s Shorts Two... She is a graduate of Cal State Northridge with a BA in Theatre Arts and is a member of the Latino Theater Alliance/LA. She has worked in productions with East L.A. Rep and Casa 0101 Theater .
