Here's what's coming to the Cerritos Center in November
CERRITOS — The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) is pleased to present a packed and exciting schedule for the month of November.
Share a night of belly-aching laughs with Louie Anderson and Rita Rudner, who kick off the month with "He Said, She Said" on Friday, November 1 at 8 p.m.
Named one of the "100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time," two-time Emmy winner Anderson hosted "Family Feud" and is the producer-creator of the acclaimed animated series "Life With Louie."
Rudner's humorous comedy routines about life, men and relationships have earned her national acclaim and multiple honors – including an American Comedy Award. The comedians perform individually. Ticket prices start at $60.
In "The Debut," multi-platinum recording artist Jackie Evancho matches her extraordinary voice to Broadway's New American Songbook, giving classic Broadway hits a fresh, more modern spin. Evancho will be the first recording artist to embrace this rich body of work and re-invent it as her own. Check her out when she returns to the CCPA on Saturday, November 2 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $70.
Comedian Colin Mochrie presents "HYPROV: Improv Under Hypnosis" with Asad Mecci on Sunday, November 3 at 7 p.m. After master hypnotist Mecci hypnotizes random audience members, the funny legend of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" manipulates them and turns the show into an improv extravaganza full of music, "horse" races and lots of laughter. Each show is guaranteed to be entirely original and completely unforgettable! Tickets start at $45.
Escape to the land of Italy and bathe in its rich culture with the sounds of The Four Italian Tenors. For the first time in the United States, the foursome presents a program of the most beloved Italian Opera arias and songs, fusing wit and charm with romanticism, lyricism, verve and vivacity. The tenors perform on Friday, November 8 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $60.
It's going to be a hot night when Emmy winner Benise unveils his spectacular new PBS production "Fuego!" on Saturday, November 9 at 8 p.m. The musician debuts all new music, dance and costumes on a romantic and exotic journey of music and dance that celebrates the fire, passion and spirit of Spain. Erth's Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure is an immersive experience that invites you to jump in and explore unknown ocean depths where prehistoric marine reptiles lived eons ago – and maybe live still today! Using technology, puppets, science and imagination, actors create an amazing visual adventure that connects young audiences to the real science of paleontology.
This family-friendly show, recommended for children ages 5 and older, is on Sunday, November 10 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Ticket prices start at $10. This show is sponsored by Cress Capital.
The National Geographic Live! Series presents "Mireya Mayor: Pink Boots and a Machete" on Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m. Hailed as a "female Indiana Jones" and an inspiration to young women interested in science and exploration, the Emmy-nominated primatologist and wildlife correspondent for the National Geographic Channel shares stories of her adventures, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the hardships and danger of life in the field, along with the moments of discovery that make it all worthwhile. Davis Gaines and Dale Kristien are "Together, Again ... for the First Time!" on Friday, November 15 at 8 p.m. Twenty-five years since the record-breaking Los Angeles run of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera," the stage veterans will perform solos and duets from their favorite Broadway shows, share stories and reminisce about their long careers on Broadway and beyond. Tickets start at $50.
Created in collaboration with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, "Harlem 100: Featuring Mwenso & The Shakes – Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance" captures the sights and sounds of the city when legendary artists such as Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Langston Hughes and Billie Holiday made it the cultural center of the country.
The multimedia production features a band and dancers celebrating the music of Waller, Ellington, Holiday, Bessie Smith and Ethel Waters. See it Sunday, November 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $50.
Rob Kapilow's 2019-2020 "What Makes It Great?" series opens on Wednesday, November 20 at 7:30 p.m. The composer and the Cal State Fullerton University Symphony Orchestra explore one of the greatest classical compositions ever written: Ludwig van Beethoven's "Symphony No. 7," which was widely considered as groundbreaking for its technical and emotional impact. Tickets start at $55.
Paul Anka comes to the CCPA at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 21 with "Anka Sings Sinatra: His Songs, My Songs, My Way." The Songwriters Hall of Famer delivers his hits, which include "Diana," "Crazy Love," "Lonely Boy" and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder," as well as legend Frank Sinatra's songs.

Join the famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band as it embarks on "A Tuba to Cuba" journey, retracing its musical roots from the storied city of New Orleans to the shores of Cuba. The group returns to the CCPA on Saturday, November 23 at 8 p.m. Ticket prices start at $50.
Los Angeles Ballet presents "The Nutcracker" at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 30 and 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 1. The company stays true to the traditions of the holiday story with some surprises! This production is set in 1912 Los Angeles.
