Kaiser Permanente opens new cancer treatment facility in Bellflower

BELLFLOWER — Kaiser Permanente celebrated the grand opening of its Radiation Oncology Center on the campus of its Bellflower Medical Offices on Friday, improving access to care for patients in the surrounding communities.

Located at 14500 Clark Ave., the new facility is the fourth radiation therapy site in Kaiser’s Southern California Region. It contains the latest in cancer-fighting technology, eight provider offices and nine exam rooms.

Mitch Winnik, Senior Vice President and area manager at Kaiser Downey, said the facility “provides high-quality radiation and cancer care to many more Kaiser Permanente members across Southern California.”

He reflected on his son’s battle with cancer, traveling to get treatment.

“I just remember as I was driving, how hard it was for him not just to get the treatment, but to get to the treatment,” said Winnik. “It hurt me because I wanted to live closer, but I couldn’t do it at the time.

“I fast forward to today. I look at that, and I look at today, and I’m so grateful that we’re opening this center which is going to provide the access, equity, and inclusion to the members that need it the most.”

In addition, Kaiser also opened its new MRI Center in the new 33,000-square-foot facility that also houses the Radiation Oncology Center, featuring state-of-the-art MRI scanners.
