Kathleen Orndorff

January 30, 1945 - January 4, 2023

Kathy Orndorff, age 77, passed away on January 4, 2023 after a brief illness. Kathy was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota. After spending her childhood in Tacoma, WA, Kathy moved to Downey and remained there until her passing.

Kathy attended college studying dental assisting. She enjoyed working for many years at McKesson in accounting. Kathy was involved in many Downey community groups. She was active with local politics and the Neighborhood Watch program. She also was a licensed realtor in Downey and surrounding cities for many years.

Upon retirement, Kathy found fulfillment in volunteering at the Downey Public Library teaching adults how to read. Kathy also found the time to become quite talented with watercolor painting. Kathy had a very quick wit, a vivacious personality, and a generous heart. She will be greatly missed by all.

Kathy was predeceased by her husband, Bill Orndorff, her parents, Helen Petersen, Robert Kenneth Petersen, siblings Christine Anderson, and Jim Petersen. Surviving siblings include Ann Marie Petersen, Bob(Jeannine) Petersen, Betty Partin, Judy Cooper, Pat (Perry) Inman, Mary Ellen (Duane) Ingham, Celine McGovern, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her very dear friend, Jeanene Donnelly, whom she met while at McKesson

Kathy has been laid to rest next to her husband, Bill, at Riverside National Cemetery.
