Larry Simpson

April 24, 1950 - November 21, 2023

Larry Simpson was born in Lynwood, CA on April 24, 1950, to Bob and Earlene Simpson. Larry moved to Downey with his parents shortly after his birth and resided in Downey at the time of his death on November 21, 2023, after a lingering illness. Larry was loved by everyone who knew him, and he knew more people than most. He loved to ride his bicycle around his neighborhood and would stop to talk and mostly listen to anyone who would give him the time. He worked at the ARC of Los Angeles and Orange Counties off and on for over 30 years. He spent time at Rainbow Acres in Camp Verde, AZ for several years before returning to Downey where he lived with his dad until his dad died in 2003. He then lived with his brother’s family until 2019. He was moved to assisted living after a severe injury to his leg and finally a group home in Downey until his passing. He is survived by his brother Dwight, sister-in-law Julie and his two nephews David and Scott. He was a loving brother and uncle and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He will be buried at Westminster Memorial Park on December 18, 2023, at 10:00 am at a graveside service. There will be a Celebration of Life at the home of Dwight and Julie Simpson on December 26, 2023. All who knew him are welcome to attend beginning at 1:00 until 5:00 pm.
