Lewis Elementary stars in Nickelodeon TV show
DOWNEY - Lewis Elementary School will be featured on an episode of Nickelodeon’s “The Substitute” on Friday, Feb. 7. The episode is scheduled to air at 7:30 p.m.
Being featured in the fourth episode of the first season of this television series, crewmembers from Nickelodeon visited Downey Unified in October to film this surprise.
Approximately 30 students will be featured in this episode where actor Rico Rodriguez from “Modern Family” visits the Lewis campus to surprise students.
To top off the excitement of their celebrity guest, Rodriguez then unveiled a donation that will be used in support of Lewis Elementary School students and programs.
Depending on the cable provider, this episode will be aired Friday evening but will also be available online through various platforms.
“We would like to thank Nickelodeon and their partners for selecting us for this amazing opportunity,” said Lewis Elementary School Principal Allison Box.
“The Substitute” is a hidden camera show that features celebrities who go undercover as professionals in various fields, surprising unsuspecting kids in schools, camps and other locations.
Transformed by a team of special effects artists, the celebrities hide their true identities as they attempt to fool unsuspecting youngsters. During the reveal of a celebrity, a $25,000 donation is made to the organization.
