Mail box thefts

Dear Editor:Re "Check Thieves," Letters to the Editor, 2/21/13: This happened to me as well, a few years ago. Fortunately the teller at my bank branch in another city was suspicious and did not cash the check. The person trying to cash the check panicked and left - leaving behind her driver's license. However, neither the PD nor the Postal Service would do anything since there was no actual loss. I no longer put any mail in post office mailboxes after hours. (After 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, after 3 p.m. on Saturday and never on Sunday.) Maggie Allen Downey
