Parks & Rec director is guest speaker

DOWNEY – Jason Chacon, director of Downey’s Parks and Recreation Department, will be the featured speaker at the Downey Historical Society’s Wednesday, Feb. 21, meeting.

The free meeting begins at 6 pm at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.

Chacon began his career as a part-time recreation leader in La Habra and La Mirada. He went on to work in Pico Rivera and Rosemead, spearheading numerous initiatives to enhance public spaces, promote community wellness, and foster engagement through recreational activities.

In Downey, Chacon oversees the development and management of community parks, recreational facilities, and a range of programs aimed at elevating the quality of life for residents.
