DOWNEY -- PIH Health has been named a 2016 Most Wired hospital by Hospitals and Health Networks (H&HN), a monthly publication from the American Hospital Association.

This is the third time that PIH Heath has received the recognition.

The recognition was based on the 18th Annual Health Care’s Most Wired survey that measured information technology use and adoption among hospitals nationwide. The survey consisted of 680 participants, representing more than 34 percent of all hospitals in the U.S., and examined how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance and provide an overall better patient experience.
 
PIH Health was recognized for its comprehensive information technology program that includes eMD Xchange— a platform that enables prompt and secure access of patient information throughout its integrated delivery system.

This provides better continuity of care and allows physicians to improve patient compliance with discharge medications. eMD Xchange has reduced PIH Health’s patient pre-operative clearance time by 50 percent, PIH officials said.
 
"With the increasing demand to share data, patient privacy becomes even more important and PIH Health has taken significant steps to improve its cybersecurity program," PIH officials said in a news release. "Protecting confidential information from outside threats and ensuring business continuity remains a high priority for the organization."
 
Additionally, to advance population health management, PIH Health is utilizing data sources to improve quality measurements and the management of at-risk patient populations. And, the My PIH Health patient portal, launched in 2014, is constantly enhanced to more effectively help manage the health of its patients.
