Crime Report
Friday, July 10:
At 6:40 PM, officers responded to 8840 Golden (Golden Park) regarding a strong arm robbery that just occurred. A female Downey resident was approached by a group of male subjects, when one of the subjects asked if he could borrow her cellular phone. The female refused and the male grabbed it from her hands and fled on foot. Officers detained a group of subjects in the area matching the suspect description, but the victim was unable to identify anyone from the group as the suspects who robbed her. Detectives are investigating.
At 8:25 PM, a male juvenile victim was with some friends near the football field at Warren High School when two male suspects approached them. One of the suspect’s brandished a knife and demanded the victim give him his portable speaker. In fear for his safety, the victim handed his speaker over to the suspects who later fled the area. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Detectives are investigating.
Sunday, July 12:
At 1:50 AM, Officers responded to 11510 Lakewood (Downey Inn) regarding a robbery that occurred inside one of the rooms. A male victim met a female online a few weeks earlier and she invited him to meet her at the motel this evening. As he entered her room, he was approached by three unknown male suspects. The suspects demanded the victim’s cell phone and wallet, and then punched him twice in the face. The suspects left prior to officers arrival. Detectives are investigating.
At 4:10 AM, Officers responded to a burglary at an office building in the 11400 block of Paramount Blvd. It was discovered that suspects had pried the front door open and made entry, triggering the alarm. The suspects stole a desk top computer and fled with the loss. Detectives are investigating.
At 8:45 AM, a Downey officer observed several subjects fighting to the front of Tacos Mexico at 7852 Florence. When the officer attempted to detain them, three suspects fled on foot and were later stopped by officers at the Radio Shack on the southeast corner of Florence and Paramount. During the initial fight at Tacos Mexico, it was discovered that one of the suspect’s hit a victim in the head with a steering wheel lock while the other two suspects kicked the victim in the head. All three suspects were arrested and booked for 245PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
