May 17, 1949 - January 2, 2023

Shannon Patrick Jaeger, a 40 year resident of Downey, California was called home by God, our Father, and transcended this life on Monday, January 2, 2023. He was at home surrounded by beloved family.

Shannon was born May 17, 1949 in Rochester, NY. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris Jaeger and three brothers. Shannon is survived by his loving wife Sheranne, his daughters Merri (Vance), Valerie (Jimmy), his son Mark (April), grandchildren Bethany, Karrah, Corey, Collin, Shelby and Angelina, three sisters, many sisters and brothers-in-law and other beloved family members.

Shannon was a master woodcrafter and designer, whose life work enriched the world with beauty. A lover of all living creatures, he helped to rescue and decrease feral cat populations. He loved the ocean, boating, and with his love of living creatures, he was an avid catch and release fisherman.

His backyard was his oasis, feeding all the birds, squirrels, and especially the blue jays he liked so much. He was an avid race and football fan, a collector of memorabilia that surrounded him with things he enjoyed. He was a space and aircraft enthusiast.

Known as a generous, hardworking man. Shannon loved his friends and family. He was known for his laughter, great love of entertaining and his expert culinary skills. Music was especially important, with his Irish tenor voice and guitar, he brought joy to his children, family, and friends.

A devout catholic, Shannon attended his parish church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be sent to the Long Beach or Los Angeles Mission.

A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined in the near future.
