Stay Gallery to highlight local arts educators, students in new exhibit

A group art exhibition titled “Each One, Teach One,” opens Dec. 13 at Stay Gallery. The featured artwork is by Obed “El Capitan” Silva titled Bienvenidos Amigos.

Stay Gallery is proud to present “Each One, Teach One”, a group art exhibition that celebrates arts educators and community-centered artists who embody the philosophy of sharing knowledge, traditions, and inspiration with others.

This exhibition is curated by Mike Alcala, a visual artist from Maywood and teaching artist with Stay Arts.

“Each One, Teach One” highlights 22 local educators and artists who use their artistry and creative practices to demonstrate the impact of mentorship, teaching, and storytelling.

As part of the exhibition, the featured artists will also have the opportunity to lead workshops and classes at Stay Gallery over the next four months, generously made possible through a $2,500 donation from Stonewood Shopping Center.

This exhibition also includes a micro-gallery showcasing artworks by students (ages 4-12) from the Stay Young! Youth Art Program, highlighting the role of creative education across generations. To raise funds for next year’s youth art program, Stay Arts will be hosting an artwork raffle during the exhibition in partnership with local artist Jacqueline Valenzuela.

The opening reception for “Each One, Teach One” takes place Friday, Dec. 13, from 6 – 10 pm at Stay Gallery. Come enjoy an evening of local art, creativity, and community! The event welcomes all ages and is free to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP online and consider making a donation: staygallery.org/teachone

Following the opening, the exhibition will be on view from December 13, 2024 – March 22, 2025 during open gallery hours: Saturdays from 12 – 4 pm. Admission to Stay Gallery is free during open hours.
