Reported kidnapping did not occur in Downey
LOS ANGELES -- A woman said she kidnapped from a bus bench Sunday night and driven around for several hours before she was shot and released near a Los Angeles hospital, authorities said.
Contrary to earlier reports, the alleged kidnapping did not occur in Downey, authorities said.
The woman told police she was waiting at a bus stop when three to four men in a brown van or truck pulled next to her. The men reportedly held a gun to her stomach and forced her inside the vehicle.
The woman, who is in her 20s, said she was driven around for several hours before she was shot in the leg. She was reportedly allowed to leave the vehicle near L.A+USC Medical Center early Monday morning.
