Letter to the Editor: No surprise police support tax increase
Dear Editor:
Why am I not surprised?
Every last one of our "civil servants", from the merest janitor to the City Manager, will proclaim the vital importance of this measure.
What they will gloss over is that it is needed because of the fiscal mismanagement by the "suits" at City Hall (and elsewhere) in granting pay and benefit scales out of all proportion to what the community can afford.
Now that their "rice bowls" are getting a bit thin, they demand that taxpayers pony up more rice to keep them full.
Well, as the tuna ad says: Sorry, Charley! It ain't gonna happen. You have to learn to live within our means.
Vote no - now, tomorrow, forever - until they "get their minds right."
