The Downey Republican

Dear Editor: 

I find it ironic that Dan Carlyle would accuse The Downey Patriot of being a Democratic operative, writing that their Opinion page is composed by "liberal groups that are fronts for the Democratic party." He must not read the Patriot every week. 

Every week I am bombarded by letters written by ultra conservative Republicans such as Elsa Van Leuven, Joe Cvetko and Martha Morrissy-Call. Their letters are published far too often, especially for a community newspaper that claims to represent an increasingly liberal and Democratic constituency. 

I tend to think The Downey Republican is a better name for the Patriot.
